Here at Craven House we’re lucky enough to be ideally situated for all the events and festivals that take place in Hampton Court Palace and the surrounding villages over the year. And with quick and easy access to London you’d be hard pressed to find a more perfect spot from which to enjoy all that 2020 has to offer.

We’ve pulled together a smattering of some of our favourite events happening this year. So whether you’re an antique hunter, marathon runner, tennis watcher, flower enthusiast, Lionel Richie fan or simply fond of a good market, we’ve got something for everyone in our corner of the country.

16th February

Sandown Antiques Market

15th March

Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon

Starting and ending inside the historic grounds of the palace, the Hampton Court Half Marathon is the perfect excuse to get some sightseeing and exercise in all at once.

Oxford and Cambridge Boat race

Just a 25-minute drive to Putney Embankment and you’ll be in the audience for one of the most talked about boat races in the world.

The London Marathon

If you’re taking part in the London Marathon, or are part of a support team, Craven House is the perfect spot to stay. It’s just far enough away from the city to be a calming and restful oasis, but still close enough to make the quick hop in.

Surrey County Show

A petting farm, dog ring, Surrey Food Theatre and monster trucks – just some of the highlights from a fun family day out.

Hampton Court Palace Festival

Join Rick Astley, Lionel Richie or George Benson for an evening of picnicking, music and revelry all in the historic grounds of the Palace. Tickets sell out fast so get yours booked now.

29 June – 12 July

The most iconic tennis tournament in the world is a short 20-minute train ride from Hampton Court, our local station. Wimbledon Village gets very busy and so a cosy stay nearby could be ideal for rest, relaxation and catching the tennis.

Floral displays, workshops and (hopefully) sunshine – what a glorious way to spend a summer’s day.

RHS Hampton-Court-Palace-Garden-Festival

The Real Tennis Champions Trophy

An ancient version of the tennis we know today, pull up a seat to watch professional Real Tennis players battle it out on the Palace’s royal courts.

The Great Tudor Games

A celebration of Tudor sports for every family member to get involved in.

29 – 31 August

Hampton Court Palace Food Festival

What better way to spend the August bank holiday weekend than sampling the huge array of different food and drink that takes up residence in the palace grounds for the food festival?

11th – 13th September

Step into a world of workshops, exhibitions and a cacophony of vibrant stores selling the very best handmade products from across the country. Kirstie Allsopp’s handmade fair happens right on our doorstep.

4th – 11th October

Guildford Book Festival

8 – 18th October

Wimbledon Bookfest

A beautiful Christmas village boasting all kinds of festive treats descends on the palace to ring in December.

This list by no means covers everything happening in our area, but we hope you have found it helpful all the same.

I hope that 2020 holds many wonderful things and that we will see you (and your furry friends!) at Craven House soon.

Best wishes for the year ahead,

Lucy sig
