Starting to wind down? Need last-minute gift inspiration? Then why not spend some time browsing a Christmas market – and some run into January if you fancy a little post-Christmas shopping!
Here’s a few of our favourite – and you should at least try to visit one of them, if not all!
Christmas Market at Tate Modern – until Friday 23 December
Pretty wooden chalets will fill the space between the Tate Modern and the Thames for a third year in 2016 for this traditional Christmas market. Browse handmade wooden toys, accessories, intricate decorations and plenty more, then tuck into festive food and warming cups of mulled wine! A Victorian carousel and festive music help add to the Christmas spirit.
Kingston Christmas Market – until 31 December
Hunt for gifts and indulge in seasonal treats at the vast Kingston Christmas Market. This festive season, more than 100 traditional wooden chalets, as well as a heated marquee and two large outdoor bars, line Kingston upon Thames’ Ancient Market Place and its surrounding streets. Shop for Christmas gifts, decorations and art, warm up with mulled wine or hot chocolate, and tuck into German-style street food while enjoying Christmas carols and music.
Christmas By The River at London Bridge City – until 3 January 2017
Explore the twinkling wooden cabins and savour seasonal fare with Christmas By The River at London Bridge City. The traditional Christmas market stretches along The Queen’s Walk from Hay’s Galleria and London Bridge City Pier to The Scoop at More London, overlooking London icons including Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and the City of London.
Pick up unique presents, stocking fillers and edible treats from the 40-plus independent traders. Then drop by the pop-up Christmas By The River bar located at the centre of the market for mulled wine, festive cocktails and craft beers.
Southbank Centre Christmas Market – until 8 January
The annual Christmas market at the Southbank Centre is a cute collection of chalets selling gifts and crafts. There are also family friendly rides, carol singers, food stalls and loads of pretty lights to add to the atmosphere.
