Well I don’t know about you but I can hardly believe we’re in December already. I know this is a conversation topic as old as time but it certainly feels like every year moves swiftly forwards, faster than the last.

Here at Craven House we’ve decked the halls, hung the lights and polished the partyware. We’re ready to welcome our December guests into our cozy apartments, and festive community. There’s lots happening in and around Hampton Court this month, from Christmas villages in Kingston and frosty walks through the Royal Bushy Park, to candle making and live music at the Mitre down the road. I can’t wait to get really into the swing of the Christmas season – the first proper Christmas we’ve had in a few years.

As I look back over the past twelve months I’m so grateful for a return to semi-normal after two years of tumultuous waters, to say the least. We’ve been able to welcome many guests into our serviced apartments and we are thrilled to be looking ahead to a busy year next year too. We have learnt many valuable lessons from the pandemic. Many of the precautions we put in place to keep our guests safe have remained, from remote check-in to additional cleaning. We work hard to give our visitors total peace of mind so they’re able to kick back, relax and enjoy their stay. We’re proud to be prioritising our new normal, and what works best for our guests.

Elmbridge East Foodbank

All that being said, this year has proven difficult for many in our community. The rise in cost of living, energy expenses and the cost of food is not to be taken lightly and will result in a very different looking Christmas for many people. In light of that, we’ve made a donation to our local foodbank. The lovely folks at the East Elmbridge Foodbank are hard at work making sure they’re able to help as many people in crisis as possible, especially as the weather turns freezing and Christmas approaches. I’m grateful for the work they do amongst our community and hope that our donation can go a small way to supporting others in need during the festive season.

As we look forward to a few weeks packed full of family time and merriment, I urge you to look around you and see if there are similar services or charities in your own local community that could do with an extra helping hand. You can find your closest food bank here.

I hope that you, your family and your loved ones have a warm, and joyful festive season. I look forward to welcoming those of you who will be visiting us over the next few weeks and to seeing even more of you in 2023.

Merry Christmas, and best wishes for the new year,

Lucy
