The festive season is well and truly upon us and here at Craven House we’re pulling out the Christmas decorations and decking the halls. We know the last sprint of the year is well and truly just that – a sprint. There is so much to enjoy and so much to do all at the same time. So, we’ve done a bit of the work for you and rounded up a few of our favourite shops in our 2023 Surrey Gift Guide. Whether it’s a last minute Secret Santa gift, or something a bit more special, we have plenty of options:
Dip into this lovely little treasure trove on Bridge Road and you’ll discover gifts for everyone on your list. From Jellycat soft toys and kids’ games, to fashion, homeware and jewellery for those with a more refined taste. It’s a one-stop shop for all the trinkets and treats to pop under your tree.
Yet another Bridge Road mainstay, Joulberry boasts some truly beautiful jewellery options for that ‘someone special’ in your life. Along with their popular pieces, they also offer the opportunity to commission a piece or buy made-to-order one-offs.
Green and Lovely
One for the foodies! Also on Bridge Road, this spot is packed to the ceiling with delicious goods, sourced from across Surrey. Pick up some cheeses, some chutneys, pickles, olives, pestos and olive oils and you’ve got one happy hamper of goodies.
Flower subscriptions of magnificent locally grown flowers for anyone local and stunning floral pyjamas and gowns, just the thing for the Moms, Grans and Mother-in-Laws.
Another popular Bridge Road option is the East Molesey outpost of Vineking. Snap up award-winning wines from some of the world’s most prominent wine-growing regions or treat yourselves to a tasting night in their bar. A top-class bottle of red always makes a good gift for a brother or Father-in-Law.
An indulgent trip to the spa should be on every busy Mom’s Christmas wishlist and we’re here to help make that wish come true! In Harmony offers facials, massages, manicures and pedicures AND gift vouchers if you’d rather let them choose their treat themselves. It’s also a stone’s throw from Craven House so would make the perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon while you’re enjoying your staycation.
After something completely unique? Then pop into Hampton Court Emporium on Bridge Road. Every corner of this shop is full of rare and unusual trinkets, vintage clothes and beautiful pieces from years gone by. It’s just the spot to find something for the person who has it all. We all know one of those!
A bit further afield
Garson’s Farm Shop
As farm shops go, this is one of our favourites. Located in Esher, opposite Esher Common and a charming duck pond, you’ll find Garson’s Farm. Renowned for their ‘Pick Your Own Fruit’ experiences, the farm also has an extensive collection of gifts, homeware, decor and edible goods in their Farm Shop. Why not enjoy a slice of cake in the cafe, or a wander through the woods at the end of the Common while you’re there?
Wisley Gift Shop
Located at RHS Wiseley Gardens, the Wiseley Shop is bursting at the seams with beautiful gifting options. From fragrances and homeware to flower pressings and books, you’re spoiled for choice. And you could enjoy a morning or afternoon in the spectacular Gardens too.
Evie Loves Toast
A firm favourite amongst Surrey locals, Evie Loves Toast in Cobham Village has endless choice of clothing, kids gifts, home accessories and more. Pop into Gail’s for one of their famed Chicken Parm sandwiches for a post-shopping snack.
If you’re visiting Cobham, this newsagents is worth a mention when it comes to gifts. A local favourite with everything from stationery, arts, crafts and cards to a specialist and interesting selection of sweets, cigars and toys amongst other gifts. You could easily find a little gift for anyone in this treasure trove.
The ancient market town of Kingston is a short hop from Craven House and has all the shopping options you could desire. A large John Lewis, Anthrolopologie, Marks & Spencers, Lush, JD Sports, Vans, TK Maxx, Astrid and Miyu, Jo Malone, Heal’s and more await on the pretty streets. They also host a festive Christmas market from mid-November with stalls selling locally made and grown gifts.
Although it is in London, getting to Covent Garden is very easy from Craven House. A quick train from Hampton Court station takes you straight into Waterloo and then you can either walk or take the Underground. There is nowhere more beautiful than Covent Garden in the run up to Christmas! Along with its spectacular decorations and displays, you’ll also find an Apple Store, the Glossier flagship store, The Cambridge Satchel Company, Superga and Benjamin Pollock’s Toy Shop to name a few.
We hope our Gift Guide has given you some inspiration as you start planning your festive purchases and writing gift lists. If you would like to order anything online and get it delivered to Craven House, ahead of your arrival, then please do just reach out and we will help make that happen.
As always if there is anything we can do to make your stay as memorable as possible then just let us know!
