Why I love….Surrey

Having lived in Surrey all my life, I think it’s absolutely amazing. The county has history, a perfect English countryside and there is so much to see and do. At Craven House, we have the best of both worlds: easy access to one of the best cities in the world, London, and the stunningly beautiful Surrey Hills. Here’s my list of why I love Surrey.

Surrey Hills
Being an area of outstanding natural beauty, I simply love the stunning views of the rolling Surrey Hills.

Bushy Park Secret Garden
Bushy Park really is a special place – an amazing hidden woodland glen with a stream and totem pole.

Guildford High Street
One of my favorite places has to be Guildford high street. It has everything you need from the usual high street retailers, food markets, cinemas, plenty of restaurants and many quirky gift shops.

Taking to the river
Surrey is surrounded by canals and of course, the River Thames. I loved the time we hired a row boat for the day – you can do this from Hampton Court and take a trip down the Thames with a picnic.

The history
We are so lucky that Surrey has a rich heritage that spans thousands of years which is both interesting and compelling. I’m always finding out something new about the historic county I live in. The county’s beautiful walks
Many think Surrey just has a few towns but lots of traffic! It has so much countryside to enjoy, with plenty of green open spaces and spectacular scenery for that perfect walk on a Sunday morning.

Village life and local community
Even though so close to the City of London, I love that Surrey really does have that village feel and genuine communities – even with over 1 million people living here!
So, when you stay with us at Craven House, you’ll have access to all the above. It’s simply beautiful.
